Dance, Dance, Dance!

Over the last two weeks, students have been participating in our dance unit. 

For the first week, all students in kindergarten through fifth grade participated in Mind in Motion, where they watched a video with arrows that flash in different directions.  The students then mimic those arrows with their arms.  For a real challenge, they can do it with their feet at the same time!

During the second week, the second through fifth graders have learned dances that cross over various genres such as The Electric Slide, Cotton Eyed Joe, and the Cupid Shuffle.  A new favorite this year was 5, 6, 7, 8!

The kindergarten and first graders have learned The Bunny Hop, The Mexican Hat Dance, and of course, The Hokey Pokey! 

Of course, Mrs. Taylor and Ms. Lee had some fun by learning The Hoedown Throwdown dance by Miley Cyrus.

Be sure to ask your child which dance was their favorite.
