They're Playing Basketball!

Basketball is always a favorite amongst the students at Ocee and it certainly wasn't any different this year! Every student in kindergarten through fifth grade was able to participate in the sport!

The unit began with the students learning the basics of basketball, including dribbling and shooting baskets. They learned the importance of dribbling by using your finger pads, dribbling the ball no higher than your waist, and keeping your eyes up and not on the ball. When it comes to shooting baskets, the students learned the acronym: BEEF. No, we don't mean the food, but rather the keys to hitting a successful two points! :) "B" stands for bend your knees. "E" stands for elbows in. The next "E" stands for eyes up and "F" stands for follow through. The students were able to practice their skills while playing Make It, Take It. They love the competition of the game and cheering on their fellow teammates!
